An early division of Forbes Group, operated through Rio de la Plata Casa Bancaria SA in Uruguay, specialized in commodities trading and mining in South America. Another division traded in the Far East. Currently all Forbes Group International Trade is managed from the headquarters office in the USA, with assistance from the Sao Paulo and Moscow team of International Trade Specialists.
The Company is currently negotiating the purchase of a gold mine in Brazil.
This new division of Forbes Group has been created to develop and manage real estate opportunities in the US, Russia and West Africa.
In 1969, the Company's founder, Lucien Edward Forbes, began trading lumber and silver from Hong Kong up the Yellow River into China. Fluent in ten languages, the founder continued trading around the world as his fishing businesses evolved. Global trade has taken the company from Asia to the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
From 1970 to 1977, the Company partnered with Fincorp A.G., Zurich, Switzerland as financial and technical consultants. Projects included:

Investment and development of Freehold Fishing SA (Santiago, Chile) for commercial extraction, processing and marketing of Antarctic krill and other traditional Chilean fish, crustacea and mollusks.
California Sports Motors SA (Santiago, Chile), manufacturing of low cost, multi purpose vehicles.
Freehold Fishing (Kenya) Ltd. Crustacean and pelagic fish extraction, processing and marketing for internal and export markets.

In 1977, Forbes House projects were centered in
the Rio de La Plata Casa Bancaria SA, (Montevideo, Uruguay). Client
companies included Reflex Ltd. which provided construction and construction
systems for LDC's (Paraguay, Ghana and Brazil); and Freehold SA
(Panama and Brazil) which included gemstone mining, cutting and
export, and in Argentina, a fisheries development and export project.
