Forbes Group's business success in the USA included operating a fleet of fishing vessels from the Port of New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. In a joint research project with the University of Massachusetts, Mr. Forbes developed a process of converting under-utilized fish species into surimi, a high protein food product useful as a food additive. This prototype project led to similar ventures in Russia and elsewhere in the world.
